![]() Now comes the Element SC, the first model with a fully painted exterior and cloth upholstery. Starting with the 2006 models, however, the EX models began rolling out of the factory with painted fenders and cladding, though the bumpers and roof trim remained basic dark vinyl. And to a considerable extent those benefits still apply to the high-trim EX. ![]() The utility benefits mentioned above still apply to the 2007 Element LX, an unadorned base model. Other folks saw the benefits of roomy box that got good gas mileage and was easy to park. But young surfer boys weren't the only ones attracted to the utility and cuteness of the Honda Element. Dark vinyl fenders and heavy cladding made stone chips or brush scrapes a non-issue. Low step-in height made loading mountain bikes or surfboards or big dogs easy, and vinyl flooring made it extra dog-friendly. Its durable, quick-clean interior was a big part of its charm, rather than a strippo-model drawback. Launched as a 2003 model, the Honda Element was originally aimed at young adventurers who need to haul wet or messy gear within the security of an enclosed cargo area. However, the SC is not a muddy boot, hose-it-out kind of vehicle, and it's dropped any pretense of all-terrain capability. Likewise, it delivers sedan-style driving dynamics and good fuel economy, at least by SUV standards. The mainstream models that dog lovers and surfers love remain, but the introduction of the chic new Element SC turns this versatile box on wheels into a lowered, carpeted, monochromatic urban cruiser.Īs with the other models, the 2007 Honda Element SC can in minutes change roles from a four-seat people mover to a surprisingly big cargo hauler. I will be heartbroken when the day comes to get rid of my Element. The Honda Element was created to be the ultimate in utilitarian chic, and this year it got a little chic-er. I would absolutely buy another Element new or used (if I can find a good deal). I sincerely wish that Honda brings back the Element and finds a way to increase the gas mileage. It's actually pretty terrible, but it's the only car I've ever really known, so I don't notice it too much. The only real excuse that I have is that the gas mileage isn't great. I love how tall the ceiling is and how roomy it feels, especially since it isn't an especially large vehicle. The visibility in this car is incredible, and it is wonderful to drive or ride in. I can't imagine ever going back to a car with carpeting and seats that don't flip up or fully remove. It is amazing to transport things in and is a breeze to clean. I love that there isn't any carpeting, and I love how the seats fold up. I did have an O2 sensor go bad, but that is the biggest issue that this car has had in ten years and 220k miles. The only things that I have had to get worked on have been pretty basic and expected for any car, e.g.: suspension, brakes, and tires. ![]() There is absolutely no visible rust on the body, and it still runs great. It is now over ten years old and has almost 220k miles and does not look or act like it. My parents bought the car brand new in October 2006, and I bought it from my dad four years ago. I absolutely love my Honda Element and have had minimal issues with it. ![]()
